HE DIDN’T HAVE AN OPTION TO WHERE HE COULD STOP BECAUSE HE WAS PULLED OVER BY FDOT! They then left him there to adjust his tarp WITHOUT police presence. Worth the money of the ticket he made but not worth his life??? MAJOR ISSUES HERE

The “Move Over” law is for official vehicles (law enforcement, state or county, wrecker, etc) only. There is no “law” regarding an unofficial vehicle pulled over in the emergency lane and how a driver should react. The best thing to do is move over but there is no law that requires it if the vehicle pulled over is not official. The assumptions on this post are staggering. Both families should be considered in prayers and thoughts because a traumatic event has been experienced by BOTH. Unless you KNOW the facts, keep assumptions to yourself.

It’s obvious from the picture he parked well off the road.
It seems like there are plenty of witnesses who would know if she crossed the line or if he walked into the road. I rode by about 13:00hrs and he was still there. That’s Not ok.
The FHP will figure it out.

So sorry to read this. Praying for all involved. About two weeks ago, my cargo trailer I was pulling with my van, came off the ball, after I went over some RR tracks. ( I told my other half I didn’t think it was low enough on the ball. It’ll be o.k..) Thankfully, I had a middle right and left lane turn to get into. However, it was still scared as hell. Tractor trailer, cars, pick up trucks flying by. Two police cars went by, and didn’t even stop, or get behind me to put their lights on, so I could be safer. I am 73 year old woman. I can’t pick up that trailer and put it back on the ball. Thankfully, I did have someone that came to help me, but I was scared to death someone was going to hit the back of my trailer, injuring or causing death. Yes, I was out of my van and across the road until my help came.

As a past volunteer firefighter that worked 13 miles of I-65 please pull your vehicle half way into the grass. Then do not stand near your vehicle. I’ve seen to many times that people are trying to flag cars to move over only to be hit.

My husband and granddaughter witnessed the man being hit. They were very shook up when they got home. Prayers for his family, as well as the driver who hit him.

Senseless! If you can, isn’t it required by Florida law that drivers move to the adjacent lane away from a disabled vehicle?
