Horse judging also known as Horse Evaluations is one of the many CDEs also know as Career Development Events FFA and 4-H put on. They are events based toward a career in this case horses. In horse judging we judge horses on balance, conformation, muscling, and quality. We also give 4 oral set of reasons that we have to memorize explaining why we placed the class of horses the way we did. We also have to take a 50 question ID test going over breeds, tack, color and markings of horses. As a team at national we also have to study and complete 5 team activities where we answer questions on the horse industry, insurance, barn management, fire safety in barn, breeding identification, disease and how to treat the disease. There are many other things they be on. It’s is a great event and I love that these kids can use this growing up because it’s great knowledge to know even if you don’t have horses!

This is a great accomplishment. Especially for our local students. But I am not sure what exactly “horse judging” entails..
as this was not a thing back when I was in school.. I now have a child in elementary school and would love to know exactly what this is.. Are u judging by breed standards, confirmation, or movement in certain disciplines?? I would really love to know all about it! Details please..
