I am amazed at the people who are complaining about DeSantis doing good for the people of Florida! Our great state has been the model of how to run a Republican State, and keep it safe, and some liberals still complain… even as they roam freely into public places, with or without masks, and enjoy the lowest taxes in the country!

DeSantis is just doing his mini-MAGA act again and I can’t wait until he is voted out of the Governor’s office in 2022 and his dreams of 2024 crash and burn.

Gas prices are already coming down– 26 cents in the last 7 days.

This is so stupid, we need that money for our roads and infrastructure. Last thing we need is to blow a billion dollar hole in the budget for building and maintaining roads. Even here in north Escambia we have roads in fire need of repair.
On Highway 99 the potholes have potholes and you often have to swerve between Lanes to avoid holes or chunks of road debris in the lanes.
We need a overpass over the train tracks at the papermill because the trains love parking across the road, cutting the north end of the county off from emergency services and making people late for work costing us money.
And the beulah beltway seems to be going nowhere and needs funding, which would give us another way out of the north side when the train is playing “let’s see how long we can block the road”
And that’s just on the north end there’s tons of other issues and flooding problems that need funding to fix. So the last thing we need to do is take a billion dollars out of the roads budget. How about use it to actually fix the problems with our roads and address the problems that currently exist.

Another stunt by the good governor. Gas prices have risen, not because of “bad federal policies”, but because of the increased demand – we are driving more after hunkering down during the worst part of the pandemic. Refineries adjusted its production during the pandemic and now are not producing enough to meet the current higher demand. It’ll take a while to increase the refineries production.
Also, oil exporting countries (like the OPEC folks in the middle east) cut their production as well, decreasing the world’s supply. All these things are what’s moving the gas price up.

The governor’s proposal will help the lower income folks, but not so much a blip to the middle and upper earners. What should be concerning everyone is the effect a gas tax holiday will have on Florida’s infrastructure. What if Skanska stops working on the 3-Mile Bridge project because there’s no gas tax money to pay them?
