Sorry Lauren, I have no sympathy for a druggy who CHOSE that life and I think your hatred (you said it) for “people like me” doesn’t give you much credibility to talk about what God thinks either. My own sister WAS an addict. Of course, she’s not anymore because she’s in Heaven now. She chose to do drugs EVERY TIME while we raised her beautiful children. She was recovered many times but you have to WANT to permanently recover, be strong (stop the hate) and of course, be faithful to yourself, family and God. If people are weak enough that they turn their backs on those things I just mentioned then their problem stems from a lot more than the drug(s). I do wish you the very best and that is for sure.

addiction is illness. Some from injuries, some from painful secrets, painful past, painful childhoods, bad realtionships, marriages, loss of loved ones, no one is exempt. Judge when you are yourself free of any sin. Now maybe they will be in “the system” with supervision, and rules to stay out of jail. Now if you wasnt to say anything about anyone let it be words to Jesus to help this broken world. The one we are in where no sinner is any above the next sinner. by the way we ALL are. Pray people. for them, yourself, your own families and us all. Then maybe we can be better as a whole. love is the greatest commandment of all.

I disagree. They searched the purse during the initial stop (finding the pipe and marijuana). I’m sure they didn’t give the purse back to her. But the article also doesn’t specify what “personal property” was searched at the jail. Maybe she had it in her sock. lol But if it was in her purse and they overlooked it…reaching.

It’s not reaching to charge someone with smuggling contraband when you are asked 1x at arresting time and 1x more in the jail if you are in possession of contraband. Smuggling is a legit charge given when someone brings illegal contraband into a facility. She would have done better to answer yes the first time they asked and get rid of the contraband. That’s fair.

I have known Ella ever since she was in middle school with my daughter. She is the poster child for the opioid epidemic in this country. She is a wonderful person deep down. Unfortunately, some people can’t seem to break free of it. She deserves better. Her kids deserve better.

Sometimes the addiction comes from a legit doctor.
My Cousin was a Marine serving in Vietnam and became an addict after being shot.
I know a young lady who twisted the ankle while cheerleading and became an addict.
You never know when it can happen to a loved one.

shan…probably not. That usually occurs when LEOs ask if they anything illegal on them and they lie. They probably found the drugs when a female performed a search.

Life is about choices. When someone chooses to take a drug and becomes addicted, why am I supposed to feel sympathy for their choice? No one is saying addiction isn’t real. They chose to take them and are now addicts.
