For those curious: look up the intersection on google maps. Make sure you are South of 9-mile. It is thoroughly marked. Yellow warning signs precede the intersection: “Traffic Island” and “15 mph” from multiple directions. The islands themselves on the road have a yellow diamond sign faced in each direction with a simple sign depicting how traffic is to flow around them.
While this man’s death is a tragedy (regardless of the driver’s speed or any other causes), research shows that traffic circles like this save lives in the long run.

I’ve heard of turnabouts but have never ever seen one before, if I came up on a busy one and had to enter it, I wouldn’t know what to do and would be in danger to myself and everybody else around me. That being said, I intend on learning all about them online before I end up like this poor guy. society just expects people to automatically know everything new without any questions. I blame the DOT’S everywhere for not sending out a notice to everybody with instructions on this new road traffic design. and this dead guys family should be compensated appropriately.

I just wanted to know who the guy was so I can send something to his family. Me and a few other people saw him take his last breaths. I asked for help to bust the window and I got in the truck to try and talk to him . I’m so sorry for his family. I wish I could’ve helped more

we need more round abouts and more speed bumps in all the neighbor hoods ? raise them speed bumps really high then raise the tax to 12 percent to help pay for these things then raise gas prices to $ 8 a gallon to help maintain the cleanup of all the trash being tossed out on the streets. it’s a win win

Roundabouts are not as effective as speed bumps. In fact, they are dangerous! It’s terrible a young man had to lose his life, be taken from his family forever because of some nitwit’s dumb idea. God rest his soul and give his family strength.

We have lived here 17 years. The round abouts were here before me. Not saying this young man was speeding but Speed is a problem on this road. People use Bowman to cut to 9mile or Detroit to avoid some of the construction slowdowns. We are definitely seeing more traffic on this little neighborhood road. Have been concerned for the kids waiting school buses. Senior walkers. Dog walkers. Joggers. Etc. At one time kids from Roy Jones senior youth camps ran this road. It is a surprise someone I. A vehicle lost their life and not one of our pedestrians.

Lived downthe roadfrom these to RAs till 2006 and kept a rental till this year. Always thought a speed pump 100′ north and south should have been installed to slow and warn drivers in. .
