Christopher, These animals are at the county animal shelter…they ARE strays. It’s very expensive to spay, neuter, feed and give all the medical care these animals need. The adoption fee is a bargain. There are many adoption groups you can volunteer with, donate to or raise money for… including Friends of the Animal Shelter. You will learn a lot and be a part of the solution!

How about people start spaying and neutering their animals then the need for animals overcrowding the shelter would be reduced.

If someone cannot afford that low fee, they cannot afford the upkeep, food and medical bills that a pet would entail. Vets are sky high, just like human doctors. A shame, but that’s how it is. If people would spay and neuter their pets, there would not be so many stray and homeless animals. Dogs and cats have been domesticated and no longer know how to survive well on their own. They become victims of disease or injury. Many suffer greatly. “Adopt. Don’t shop,” is a worthy saying.

Well make it one fee only or just $5’s. I get that the business needs money to operate. You can’t really expect someone to pay for them when there’s stray animals that need help too.
It’s sad and I would want nothing more then to see them adopted. Maybe create a fund raiser that will allow it to pay for the adopters fees. If you really care for the animals. It’s a solution.
