Since various topics are being discussed – yesterday, my orthopedist told me if we’re ever in an unavoidable sever collision, at the last second remove your hands from the steering wheel and get your foot off the brake. He said the tensing and bracing is what causes so many injuries but it’s a natural reaction.

Concerned, vehicles are designed to absorb the impact as much as possible now. I-m 74, Vehicles were designed for for durability when I was young. I would rather be alive than the vehicle being okay and me being DEAD.

Concerned, you do not know if this is good or bad results. Only a complete accident investigation could reveal that. How fast were they going? Both windshields show that no one was ejected through them, which means the restraining systems and protective features worked. I can assure you that if his were 1960s models there would be more damage and injuries.

To Concerned: Wow! All you are concerned about is how cars are designed? You DO realize that these two cars hit HEAD ON! Not much you can do to prevent that sort of damage! Why not stop and say a prayer for those involved in this wreck? We do not know the circumstances or the cause, but we can wish them well on their recovery and be thankful that we have never had this experience!

You’re kidding right?! I mean yeah they both have injuries but they are none life threatening Injuries. I’d say the car did it’s job. Cars aren’t indestructible. And comparing them to a bumper car at the fair is comical. Cars on Pineforest go every bit of 50+ mph. Bumper cars don’t even go 5.

If this kind of collision happened between two cars 20 or 30 years ago, people would’ve certainly been seriously injured or killed. This was an offset frontal collision, one of the most difficult tests of a car’s structure. The advancements in crumple zone technology, collapsable steering columns, safety glass, anti-lock braking, three-point seatbelts and multiple airbags are why these folks are walking around a bit sore today and not in a morgue.

hope everyone is ok. it’s so so sad to see this amount of damage to newer more improved cars and s.u.v.’s and what your now paying for the newer so called safety standards surely if the interstate fair can put you in a bumper car and you get tossed around and walk away in hurt and no damage done to the bumper car ?? you would think just maybe these folks that design these cars can do better. bottom line is I’ve seen way to much waist junkyards are filling up our land fills are filling up. we have to do better than this for the safety of the future generation.
