You have a good long view of both directions when sitting on Wallace Lake. The problem that I witness several times a week is that people can’t comprehend speed and distance. It’s 55mph on the highway and people wait until the last minute and pull out in front of you and then don’t hit the gas. Every morning that I travel that route I’m expecting a car to pull out in front of me when I see one sitting there.

Struts are suspension components, not body panels!!!! The A,B, C, and D pillars are what hold up the roof. They are labeled from front to back in Alphabetic order.

If you have ever been to this intersection, then you would know there is no way the A or B pillar could ever be in the way obstructing your view, as this is a perpendicular intersection.

What most likely happened is the person didn’t even look and just pulled out when the opposite traffic was clear. This has happened to me multiple times at intersections just like this, people don’t look both ways and just pull out.

Cheryl, I am talking about the metal supports (struts was what I could think of at the time) that go from the bottom part of the car to the roof of the car that hold the windshield in place and support the roof. They are a lot thicker now than when they used to be back when I started driving. Years ago I could never understand why a man was waiting to pull onto Hwy 29 and then just pulled straight in front of a car and died. Then I almost pulled into the path of a vehicle except I was too slow and that vehicle appeared as if out of nowhere. Since then I have noticed several times in different cars that this could have happened. If you are not absolutely certain there is no traffic, take a second and change your view by leaning forward or backword.

@ Cathy… are the struts you mentioned the strips that warn a car to slow down? Trying to figure it out, don’t want it to happen to me.

My heart goes out to the families and all involved. I have to believe that the car struts obstructed his view. I know that sometimes whole cars cannot be seen. I, personally, have had this happen but fortunately for me, the car came into view before I pulled out.
