@Oversight. Textbooks are expensive and are outdated quickly. They require lots of manpower to track and store. Many students don’t return textbooks. Copies aren’t available to replace them, so eventually there aren’t enough copies. If texts from class sets go missing, teachers are held responsible. Generally, online material can be updated and disseminated much more quickly and at MUCH less expense. With students having computers they have access to material wherever they are. And, a Chrome book is cheaper than the cost of textbooks per student. That said, most teachers have plans and materials for days when there isn’t computer access. If they don’t, their school admin needs to know why. The big issue is bandwidth.

Replace hard copy textbooks with online ones. What could possibly go wrong? LOL!

As a District employee, I can tell you that this is not at all convenient. And it’s happening pretty often lately! I guess this is what happens when your service is provided by the lowest bidder.
