I'm sorry for all parties involved in this incident. But there is GREAT RISK walking along the side of ANY road in Escambia County and it is much higher in the dark! Is it really worth it???

Sad situation for all parties involved in this accident.
If you are traveling at night your low beam maximum distance of illumination is approximately 180 feet. This would be under ideal conditions. The speed limit along this stretch of Fairfield is 35 mph, which would give a driver about 120 feet of stopping distance. This gives you a sixty-foot cushion, if conditions are ideal, and you see an object the instant it comes into view. If you are meeting oncoming traffic their head lights, shinning in your eyes, limits your vision even more. If you bump your speed up 5 mph the distance jumps to 130 feet.
My point, never walk on the white line. The life you save may be your own!
