Starting with the REDICULOUSLY LOW PAY for having to deal with a bus load of kids. Some of whom have little to no manners, bullies, smart mouths, and having to drive while keeping eyes on the other idiot drivers , in a hurry to get somewhere. And the fact that a smoker can not even be considered for a bus driver position.. I totally understand NO SMOKING on bus or school property. But when u have to submit to random nicotine tests bc u can not smoke even at home on your own time. That is petty as it gets!! That goes way overboard, in my opinion! I mean DRUG TEST? Ok.. Pay increases may attract people who have an aptitude , but may be forced in other types of work that pay better. While several people who do this job, may not completely depend on transporting children for a living, perhaps better pay would be an incentive to make a commitment. Yes, it is a commitment, not just a job. Only good people who care about children need apply. Please act to pay accordingly. Families with several children will have first graders getting home at 1:30 and the older children not getting home until 4:30, leaving the eight year old at home alone for two hours!
