I usually go out twice a day with her. Most of my route has sidewalks, and we love them. About a third doesn't have sidewalks. We walk beside the road where there are none. We walk on the left facing traffic. I would love to have sidewalks all he way. But sidewalks cost a lot of money. As the old saying says, "Rome wasn't built in a day". I guess they add sidewalks as needed when the money is available. There are so many other things soaking up all our tax dollars. EMD, I am a big fan of walking my dog. Its inexcusable to be in that specific roadway at that time of morning, where it's not lit by street lighting where theres NO homes or open businesses. As a pedestrian you can see a car traveling for some time along that straight away. While in a car you cannot see someone until you're right up on them. Anyone logical and reasonable can realize that. Many people risk their lives by walking and riding a bicycle along cars in the roadway. Your choice to risk your life. It's been proven time and time again, cars always win in an accident s a bike/human. Accidents happen... eventually we will all be in one or two or three. With all the criminals driving on bad licenses and druggies driving, I'd never walk or ride along a road. Not risking it. Seems like theres a hit and run every day here. Everyone knows this. There is a wide enough shoulder on that section of highway that a sensible person would not be in the center of a vehicular lane regardless of the time. Does anyone else think that a very large toll is being taken on pedestrians and those in wheel chairs? Also, quite a toll on bicyclists also. Maybe some guarded bike lanes are in order also. And, some simple public education on bike safety.......such as not wearing dark clothing at night, but light clothing and perhaps reflective accessories. Also lights and reflectors on the bike.
