$10K for a fireworks show??? What about spending that to bring businesses back into the area? Not Dollar General! You drive down Hwy 29 & it looks so sad to see all of the empty buildings! What about saving & investing that money & any other that is not necessary & rebuild a police department? The county could care less about the crime & drugs in that area! Century is out of sight & out of mind to the majority of county departments! When relatives of mine who still live there have called numerous times to the sheriffs department about criminal activity in the area & are told BY OFFICERS themselves that unless something major happens that’s newsworthy they don’t care what happens up there….that’s just sad!!!!!

I would say that this has absolutely no chance of passing because the council seems to do the opposite of what the mayor wants, but this idea is stupid enough that they just might actually pass it.

I mean who needs bridges repaired, or something like a balanced budget? That’s just crazy talk.

So what’s his kickback? He already has “THE SHOW TENTATIVLY SCHEDULED WITH THE VENDOR.” So Century forget the failing infrastructure, pay more for bigger fireworks, (that’s very important) with money we don’t have and our wonderful neighbors from Flomaton pay NOTHING and see a bigger fireworks show in Century. Why not talk Flomaton into doing the bigger show and hook them up with the tentative vendor (split the kickback, just my humble opinion) and let them pay for the show. Then their wonderful Century neighbors can go all the way across the bridge and watch bigger fireworks costing Century NOTHING. After all Flomaton has four traffic lights and three of them have all four sides necessary for traffic flow. They must have more money to burn if they have so many traffic lights.

I am not being mean when I say this.
But has Century ever been normal on anything. Iall these years I read about the darndest things taking place there and I really cant wrap my head around it..day after say. If someone is still alive when it operates normally I would suggest going back to square one and fix the problem. It’s sad really.

Century does not have the money to pay their bills! There is too much violence, drugs and mayhem to even think about holding any events after dark in that place!!!

WOW. There are so many places nearby with fireworks. A more sensible solution would be to forego fireworks for a few years and focus on more important issues. Unbelievable.

We need BRIGGS BLVD repaved. We have been asking for 5 years! Roads then fireworks!
