We lived in Pensacola for over 10 years. And when we first moved there it was a very peaceful city. We had a great neighborhood and everyone looked out for each other. Then we started having bad apples move in and around us. We started having thugs in the middle of the street just standing there daring you to go through. I am talking about 10 or so teenage boys. You had them swarming local restaurants in late hours on Fridays and Saturdays. Then Murders and rapes started going up. We moved from there 3 years ago. I am glad we did. Yes break in’s etc might be down. But Violent crimes are up. And that is what you should be worried about. Praying for the People of Pensacola.

I moved to Pensacola fm Nashville because if Crimes, murders, assualts. I feel much safer here. There are bad people everywhere you live & you need to help yourself. Lock up your vehicles, and homes. Cooperate with law enforcement, watch out for your neighbors. The Main problem is our Judical system. Pice arrest & Judges release these criminals out within hours of arrest. Plea deals made to save money on trials. Policd can arrest till the cows come home, but if Judges dont impose consequences, criminals & thugs are not afraid.

Our police are working hard. Yes murder is up..but when Noone ,wants to come forward with information…then many times you have very little to go on. Hopefully Simmons and the New Chief at the PPD…will make a positive difference. However communities must come forward with help . I hope the good citizens of the city think carefully before choosing Morgan for mayor…because he certainly was a disaster at sheriff..

I think since Chip Simmons has become Sheriff it has gotten better, he I’d doing an awesome job, much better then Morgan did in the years he served.

Escambia County has gotten worse. Let’s keep LEOs in the state and not send them to the border. We need help.

“The overall crime index in Escambia County dropped 6.2% during 2020 compared to the previous year….” Well, that is interesting but not especially important. Crime is at a 50-year record low in Florida. It is just not low enough in Escambia County. What is important is that the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office crime rate in 2020 was +45% “higher” than the state average. No one every reports that very disturbing fact or that the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office crime rate was well above the state average for all of Sheriff Morgan’s 12 years in office. Why? During all of Sheriff McNesby’s eight years in office, his crime rate was always below the state average. In the City of Pensacola, crime is so bad that Pensacola Police Officers refuse to live there. In 2016 Council President Spencer asked then Police Chief David Alexander how many PPD Officers lived in the city, i.e. lived the concept of community policing. Alexander said “not very many.” Pressed, he said (obviously guessing) “less than ten percent.” Since 2002, the Pensacola crime rate has every year been above the state average. I don’t recall that ever being reported even once in the News Journal or on Channel 3. One year the city’s crime rate was +77% above the state average. In 2020, the city’s crime rate was +55.6% above the state average. The city’s 2020 crime rate is up from +55.2% above in 2019 and +54% in 2018. Whatever the Santa Rosa County Sheriff is doing is working. It’s 2020 crime rate was just 937.4, less than half the Florida crime rate average.

Pensacola is a very violent, crime ridden city where it is easy to get away with murder. Just look at all of the unsolved murders in this city and you will have to agree. Yet, a woman gets 20 years for having sex with a couple of teen age boys and shoplifting is not even prosecuted anymore. Welcome to the new reality.

Lock the Doors and Keep it Yours….
Reading article and wondering how many vehicle thefts, robberies, burglaries could have been PREVENTED if people just Locked their Vehicles and took keys into the house with them thus severely limiting the criminals easy access to homes and vehicles.
Heard at lne time that if a neighborhood is “Hit” by the thugs who lift door handles and steal from UNLOCKED Vehicles….Heard that no matter the Number of Individual Vehicles the Report was for Only ONE Instance….is that true?

Is it possible one reason there is so much crime is the criminals know there is only a one in three chance they will be caught?
