We had just parked as the EMT parked along side of us. They didn’t seem to be in any rush. As we gathered our things and walked to the beach area, we noticed several lifeguards searching in the water and there was several bystanders along the shore. We all stood by and started scanning the waters for a good 15 minutes. My husband was wearing a pair of Maui Jim glasses, they are polarized inside out.. then all of a sudden my husband sees the body being rolled over and over by the waves. We all yelled and pointed at the direction of the body as the lifeguards headed to that direction. It was a very sad scene. The EMT and lifeguards worked on the lifeless body of what looked like a young adult, a male teenager of 17-19 years of age. NOT sure what took the national coastguard helicopter to get to the location. Our prayers go to the family. Such a tragedy. We decided not to stay at the beach.

I think most people by now know what the flags mean but they don’t want to waste a day on the beach without going swimming. Seems that drowning incidents have increased quite a bit these past years, however. Rougher surf???

Its really sad that another person
lost there life on the beach……..
BUT, if they would under stand and
obey the flag warning system it would make
for a safer day…………
