Let me absolutely agree with np630ss! I also have been supportive of more frequent driving tests for all ages including going to annual checks for over 70. I am not a senior yet, but almost there and as I have aged, I certainly notice changes in my driving skills (for instance driving late at night). Instead of 7 years for renewal and a mail-in option, it should be reduced to 3 years and in-person only. If you disagree, don’t do so because of the inconvenience of having to go to the tax collector office. Do it for the SAFETY of yourself and others especially children and pregnant women. One of the highest causes of young children’s death is traffic accidents. Don’t be selfish. Don’t be the cause of getting someone killed.

Let me begin by stating that I am a senior citizen. I understand that driving is a privilege, not a right. I have been an advocate for mandatory annual driving tests for people over 65 for my entire adult life. I’ve witnessed too many seniors driving, putting their life and innocents in danger. Age takes a toll. I deal with it myself. I would happily take the test before risking the life of a child or maybe a pregnant mother or anyone else.

Northescambia has way better reporting than the other local sites. From their reporting, they could care less that a deputy was injured. Not sure how that other news site won an “award.” Then they self loathed about it. Smh.

Great job north escambia!

Hope this deputy is resting at home and makes a full recovery. We love our deputies and officers!!!
