@ Elmer -Turn in your license and call a taxi due to the fact that you can not leave the scene of an accident just because you had something to do and your vehicle was not in the roadway and you felt as if you were not injured. Come on think about what your saying!

Run registration——> find driver ————> investigate———-> arrest suspect. I don’t know why they run. They have your tag and vin number. Unless it was stollen, but I was there before the police got there and it didn’t appear stollen.

So Elmer…….Did he give you a ticket for “leaving the scene of an accident”? I would hope not since no one else and private property was involved, BUT you just never know !

When a person leaves the scene, the police have no way of knowing that. For all they know, there could be a person lying somewhere in the area, maybe even face down in the ditch, in need of medical assistance. So they have no choice but to start a search. And another thing, you did not need to tell Jesus, “It’s just a car.” I am pretty sure he knows what cars are, nor did you need to tell him, ” the road was wet I slid off the road and hit a tree.” he knows the road was wet, he made the rain. And he also knows you ran off the road and hit a tree, apparently you are pretty personal with Jesus, seeing as how you mentioned him in your comment, so he probably was watching you, and protected you from harm. As for as your statement, “This is where it got stupid”, you are absolutely correct, well not really you miss-spelled stupid but yes your answer was pretty stupid!

And let us not forget, In Florida, it is a crime to leave the scene of a crash. punishable by a $1000 dollar fine and/or jail time.

@elmer… does it occur to you that you likely damaged a tree on someone’s property? As an adult, ( I’m assuming that reading this paper means you are) don’t you understand that the authorities are responsible to make sure there is no injured driver walking around with head injuries? And yes, if you were insured to cover all the damage you caused? The oblivion our country cruises through everyday life with today is truly revolting.

I once crashed my car and walked home
I didn’t hang around because my car wasn’t going any where and I had other things to do
Jesus It’s just a car. I was not hurt it was not in the road way so I left it there.
Called a tow truck to pick it up
FHP showed up and ask me what happened.
I said I crashed my car. This is where it got stupied,
He asked if I had Insurance. I asked him why does the tree want to sue for damage.
I said Jesus the road was wet I slid off the road and hit a tree.
I asked him did I need to stick around for that. It was raining I didn’t want to get wet and had other thing to do. The car wasn’t going any where

Considering the driver “fled on foot”, they probably didnt have a drivers license AND, in all likelihood, no insurance. As such, I am thankful they only hit a tree. Otherwise some other family could/would be out of pocket for repairs due to damages.

There are way too many people in our community who fail to understand why its required to have a driver’s license AND insurance when operating a motor vehicle.
