Can someone answer how many pedestrians have been run over who were not in the road way , or sidewalk or even a cross walk? Just wondering, maybe the solution is pedestrians just simply stay out of the road.

@Gasit…It’s already named Pine Forest Rd…regardless of the name of the road people will drive however fast they want…this country has lost site of common courtesy…when someone is approaching an event that has a large crowd such as a race or fair it would be nice for them to slow down and allow people to have a chance to make it home…instead people only worry about themselves…selfish world we live in!

@Michelle G. I believe law enforcement has a policy against arresting dead folks.

On a different note, I made the mistake of traveling down Pine Forest Road last year at the same time as the snowball derby was letting out. It took 1 hour to get from the interstate to the fair grounds. I was amazed at the amount of sloppy drunks walking down the side of the road going to there vehicles. Saw a few throwing up outside my window. Saw one man and then a woman stop to P between cars. Saw a few stumble out onto the road. Its a wonder numerous people do not die in front of the race track after each event. Beats all I’ve ever seen. Yee Haww

I agree that driver’s are at fault for a lot of pedestrian casualties. However, take a trip down Fairfield , or Cervantes and see how many people just walk into moving traffic because they think they can. I was at the race Saturday when someone ran across the track during the race with car’s racing on the track. I heard that this is the same person. Rather if it is, or not really doesn’t matter because a life was taken, and people’s life’s have been destroyed. I pray for everyone involved in this situation. However, if it’s the same person how come he wasn’t arrested?

Pensacola drivers have no regard for pedestrians or people on bicycles. Drivers are driving to fast and do not stop or slow down for anybody

Do you think if the state renamed “Pine Forest Highway” to “Pine Forest Street or Way” that folks would slow down?

That road is a speedway most hours….

There are a lot of pedestrians hit on Pine Forest it is a dark road that has few streetlights and no sidewalks between Nine mile and Longleaf. Some sections have no
room between the shoulder of the road and terrain obstacles such as ditches and guard rails on bridges forcing people dangerously close to the road. A lot of pedestrians have lost their lives on that stretch of road.

We were in the grandstands and watch the paramedics tirelessly try to revive him. So sad for all involved .May he rest in peace
