im not sure where to stand on this :/ a woman is dead because of just a few minutes of distraction it definately was not out of malice and he was trying to keep his child safer just wrong choice of not pulling over to do so..definately not the same as texting or drinking and driving..those are selfish acts..he was thinking of his child..very sad situation..prayers to them all..

He was buckling the seat belt for his four year old child. At least they got it right that it was the father or not the mother in this article.

I agree that this is distracted driving. The man that I took his EYES off the road & that’s how he crossed the center line. It should be catigorized in the same bundle as any other driving infractions that end in the death of the victim. The end result was the same as a DUI accident. They say in a TV commercial THAT BUZZED (DRUNK) DRIVING IS DISTRACTED DRIVING. So the charges should be the same in this case.

Handle every distraction the same, cell phone, make up, map reading, and refastening children’s seatbelt. Pull off the road to take care of these matters! You may save a life, even your own. My prayers go out to this lady’s family for their loss. Prayers for a quick and full recovery for the young man and child.

So Paul, where should children sit? Because they are absolutely the biggest distraction I have ever had while driving. I’m more distracted when they are crying than I have ever been drunk. Screaming, and crying, hitting, throwing toys.

You can’t say that this is the same thing as someone texting, messing with the radio or running their mouth!!! The man was trying to fix a seat belt for a child, not intentionally driving distracted, you can’t just lump everything into one basket.

Distracted drivers should be treated the same as a DUI.
The results are the same. The charges should be just as harsh.
