There are approximately 54000 people over 65 in Escambia county. Regarding the Publix vaccine rollout, each of the 6 Publix would have to vaccinate 9000 people to cover this amount. Per the roll out figures thus far it would take about 72 days to do this if the supply was there to do it...which it obviously isn’t and isn’t available in that quantity even over time. Obviously not every senior is going to want it but I think most do seem to. Anyway this gives you some idea of what is needed here in Escambia county, FL to even get our seniors vaccinated even in a few months even with more vaccination sites. By my calculations and considering real world situations if you are in a group of about 12 people chances are at least 1 of those people has the virus. Think about that next time you go to a place you don’t have to be where there is a group of 12 or more people, especially indoors.
