I ran into 4 deer in one year killed all of them in a years time on road between Cantonment and Atmore. I installed deer whistle on my bumper and have not hit one since. If I see a deer they just stand and watch, apparently the whistle is high pitched and it stuns them. Have family and a rental house in Walnut Hill so I am on the road very often. If you travel that way you should purchase for your safety because they really work. I hit one in the curve going out of Atmore near Chevrolet Dealer in Atmore, one after crossing bridge just before Ernest Ward School. One just leaving Walnut Hill before Dogwood Park and two in Cantonment 4 lane highway. So I never speed although I have the deer whistles now.

I’m so glad the man is ok. Also people need to remember IF the hit and kill a deer, please call the Police or the Wildlife so they can pick up the deer. They use this to help families who are unable to buy food sometimes.

@mnon…Im curious to know what you know about line work or what it takes to fix these things when it happens( HIGHLY DOUBT IT ). But by all means if you can do it faster please please come show us linemen how. Because we would rather be at home with our family’s in the cozy heat enjoying our time with them. I never get involved in social media, but I was the second vehicle to the scene of this crash, I helped the young man out of his destroyed vehicle. He could have been killed on his way to work to feed his family. The deer was killed also. People should be more considerent by what they say when they have no idea what they are talking about.

I have lived in NY city, Houston, Cincinnati, Berlin, Charlotte, Birmingham Phoenix
I have seen more wrecks on US 29 and Atmore Highway in the last 10 years than
I did get n all those places combined. Many at Tom Thumb. Helicopter has landed 3 times. Have been passed turning left into my driveway with big turn signals flashings in . Passed many times between Gibson and school by very high speed drivers. Most deaths no seat belts. Last guy went through windshield hit back of truck-bounced back dead by his still closed door in front of Tom Thumb.

Please think and slow down to at least 10 over on 97. So we can get out of driveway without floor boarding each time. Highway patrol clocked a car at 83 while working a wreck in front of my place with fire truck, ambulance and HP with flashing lights

Yeah 8h to get power back on, yeah yeah accident can’t do anything until cops get a report blah blah. Still too long on a freezing morning to be without power. Pretty much ruined everything I needed to get done before the weekend… next time don’t swerve just hit the dang deer like a champ.
