I appreciate FEMA. I lost everything(except my life) during the hurricane. FEMA provided. I will be asking for more housing assistance because the amount provided was not enough. Thank God for the U S A and Merry Christmas to All.

Ms. Nora Lopes that’s part of the process. To do a sba loan. If they don’t pay fema should. Put in a appeal letter. Don’t stop there. And who ever you taljed to should have told you that. Don’t stop keep calling you need help. Especially if it’s personal property. It’s bad when people like you and others need help and the government fails you. I understand those that don’t need it always seen to be the ones that gets everything. But keep calling. And keep appealing.

The dead silence while you wait to hear from fema. After they tell you they working on your case. The unknown. Winter time is here people need answers and help.

My family has been homeless sence sally hit we lived in a 5th wheele that got completely distorted but because i wasnt in it the night sally hit (thank God we were not)FEMA wont help SBS wont help says my credit is not good.. we are still homeless and i have two kids all we need was just sone help now whats going to happen to us

FEMA is like this because the last time they were here for a destructive hurricane (Ivan), they got suckered. I’ll give one example.
I know people who rented a ratty trailer in a park which had a 6″ limb through the living room and a tree laying on the back bedroom. They had two children and told FEMA they lost clothing due to mold. That they had a microwave, television (both used from goodwill), and a stereo (rented) that was looted before they had returned home from the shelter. They received a check for $7,600 and a furnished 3/2 brand new trailer to live in rent free for over a year. At which time they then purchased from FEMA for $1,700.
I know of numerous others that basically committed fraud to get money. Yes, Karma is powerful and all these people have never progressed in life. Yet their actions caused FEMA not to give folks the benefit of the doubt. It’s very sad. People that really need help have a hard time getting it.

Weird how so many people demand emergency assistance from the federal government and when they don’t get it, they suddenly realize massive government is the worse thing ever. Start cutting government agencies and do away with a lot of the federal waste. Same people getting denied government assistance are the same that voted it to make larger and are convinced more government and progressivism is the way. Certainly not this time. Government creates nothing.

Yea I was turned down as well then FEMA directed me to get a loan from SBA but SBA denied helping me because they said I didn’t make enough money to pay the loan back. I am a 58 year old woman My Son is 37 he is Autistic we lost clothes some furniture books picture of my family and my children growing up . Two freezers full of food .
It is truly gutt wrenching !!

Application asked if you had a power surge. I did and it destroyed my stove. When I heard nothing I called FEMA. They told me if I had a roof over my head I would not get help, and I was denied. I went to PJC in Milton to speak directly to someone. After 2 trips with no one there, I gave up. I am currently using a 2 burner hot plate.

FEMA is useless to people that really need help I needed help with my roof and they would not help me. I applied for help one time before and they would not help I was not one of those that had damages for years and then went and file for fema and got them to fix the damages.
