I see a lot of people crossing in the middle of cervantes. It is scary and they should be crossing only at intersections or crosswalks. Why are people crossing in the middle of the road when drivers can’t see them? This is so sad and I hope never happens again.

A person who is homeless, IF that was this situation, has as much right as anyone to be out at 11:50 pm. Night hours are sometimes the worst time for these poor people to let their guard down and possibly sleep. If you don’t know the details, why judge? Maybe pray for the man, the drivers, the man’s remaining friends, and any possible family that may end up with this horrible news when you go to your EMPTY church. No, it wasn’t a good decision but apparently he wasn’t the only one out as TWO vehicles being driven by someone hit him. Pedestrians and bicyclists in our area are continually being hit – daytime and night time. It’s sad

The Florida Highway Patrol said the 61-year old man was pushing the wheelchair from the east shoulder towards the center turn lane on Mobile Highway near Walmart about 11:50 p.m He was not in a crosswalk and pushing a wheelchair? Poor man should not have been out that late, homeless or not.

It’s sad. When I travel that area btwn Fairfield and Pep Boy’s, I drop the speed considerably. That area is known for jay walkers and bike riders…. young and old.

This has to make it at least a dozen pedestrians killed in this area near the Wal-Mart over the past 4-5 years. Mostly homeless folks,I guess. Doesn’t seem to be any public outcry for better lighting or crosswalks. Just a mile or two down the road they’ve turned night into day on Cervantes after a single incident.
