Adding a red light will not solve the problem, people will still continue to speed, drive distracted and blame everyone and everything but themselves. The state highway patrol and county sheriff need to step up enforcement in that part of the county.

This intersection needs a redlight! As for the Speeding on 29, it’s rampant!! Just a matter of time before someone is killed in front of Jimmys Diner. Its awful!!

My prayers are for both families right now. We have no right to judge when we have all made the same mistakes, it just didn’t happen to us. We all need to slow down put our cell phones away (after all the life you save could be your own ) and live to see another day. Nothing is so important that it cost you your life. And this person that had the accident will have to live with that for the rest of their life. That’s something to think about.

I don’t know if speed was involved or not, but from looking at the pictures of both vehicles, it appears to me that one vehicle had pulled out in front of the other vehicle and was t-boned. Sad situation all around.

I drive with my headlights on in the daytime so other drivers can see me. I appreciate other drivers doing the same so I can see them!

I like how everyone assumes speeding was the cause of this accident when it does not state anywhere speeding was a factor. You really shouldn’t make any comments about it until you get all the details. With exceptions of thoughts and prayers for the families involved.

My husband and I drive that road daily back and forth from Century to Pensacola. People speed excessively, why post speed signs when none are obeyed. I have seen motorcycles going down the middle line between cars at high rates of speeds also. I have only seen enforcement on that road where trucks enter and exit while working on the gas line, it has become a real hazard the way the people take advantage of the good roads to see how fast they can run their vehicles.

US 29 is actually a safe road, its the speeding and using cell phones that is the danger. There should be more monitoring on this major road. Many accidents at Kingsfield & US 29 are drivers running red lights.

First, prayers to the family and friends of the lady who lost her life. I do not know the circumstances or details, my comment below is referring to other comments concerning this srticle.
Speeding is not a cause of accidents but is a contributing factor. The number one cause of accidents is distracted drivers, but we do not want to hear that. We are going to eat, drink, adjust the radio, look at the GPS, talk on the phone, text, and correct the kids in the backseat but we do not want to admit to that. Speeding increases the chance of a fatality and or serious injury. If you hit a brick wall at 65 mph you are just as dead as you would be if you hit it at 80 mph. The problem is at 80 mph you have considerably less time to react than you would at 65 mph. So, if you look at your phone for two seconds at 80 mph you have traveled 234′ verses 190′ at 65 mph. now factor in reaction time. If you are fast, and it takes you .5 sec to apply your brakes, at 80 mph you will travel 59′ before you start deceleration. So, at 80 mph a 2 sec distraction could cost you almost 300′ of uncontrolled travel. At 65 mph a 2 sec distraction would be 220′ of uncontrolled travel. maybe this why I see people on highway 29 traveling 40 in a 65 zone with their phone on the steering wheel. They are trying to be safe. Wrong! People when you are driving pay attention to the road and the conditions around you, your life depends on it!

Look people i get that people shouldnt be going over the speed limit.. I get it but its not the road that dangerous its.the drivers that drive on it every day.. Sheriffs office and state troopers arent the ones to blame for people speeding yea they should be there to catch them but they cant do it all at the same time.. The people speeding are stupid and not driving cautious..
