The turn is poorly designed. It continuously tightens as you progress through it and there is very little if any banking to hold a car to the roadway. To top it off it suddenly switches back right at the end. Locals understand but tourists enter that turn unknowing. I work for an emergency service and it’s a very notorious spot for wrecks. The same day the trooper was struck there were 4 other separate incidents in and around that interchange. Even at the 40-45 mph limit that that turn has is too fast when it’s wet.
