Here's some easy to grasp statistics for all those with mask wearing adversity. In Taiwan, a country with almost 24 million people, they've had around 400 Covid cases and 7 deaths with new cases almost flat. In Florida, a state with 21.5 million people, we've experienced 179,000 cases and 3,683 deaths with new cases growing exponentially. Taiwan chose a proactive approach using masks, testing, tracking and personal quarantine. They didn't shutdown businesses or schools and the virus had a minimal impact on their economy. In Florida, first we ignored it, then shutdown, then reopened and now selectively ignore it. The virus is only getting started and it's already had a huge impact on our economy. So far, the infection rate is below 1%, what do think is going to happen when it hits 10% or more. Just keep ignoring it, you'll soon find out.

REGARDING:
"How well does the new malaria drug Remdesivir work for Covid 19? "

It isn't a malaria drug. It is an antiviral. (The malarial drug didn't work at all, it was just pushed by the president based on his gut, according to him -- no evidence for support from the beginning.)

The sick who recover have an average recovery time of 11 days versus 15 days.
7.1% died on Remdesivir versus 11.9% dying without. 59.7% as many, call it 3/5 the death rate, or 67% more likely to survive if I'm reading these numbers correctly. Nowhere near as good as we need, but better than what we had, once infected.

The president bought up the world's supply for the next three months, half a million treatments, so only Americans will get any. We have 15,928 serious to critical cases right now of 1,542,988 active cases,
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2007764
"Preliminary results from the 1059 patients (538 assigned to remdesivir and 521 to placebo) with data available after randomization indicated that those who received remdesivir had a median recovery time of 11 days (95% confidence interval [CI], 9 to 12), as compared with 15 days (95% CI, 13 to 19) in those who received placebo (rate ratio for recovery, 1.32; 95% CI, 1.12 to 1.55; P<0.001). The Kaplan-Meier estimates of mortality by 14 days were 7.1% with remdesivir and 11.9% with placebo (hazard ratio for death, 0.70; 95% CI, 0.47 to 1.04)."

How well does the new malaria drug Remdesivir work for Covid 19? Made by a California Pharmaceutical Company.
Instead of going round and round beating the dead horse “mask” issue, let the Medical Community weigh in what Is working. Our government bought half a million doses (to be sold for 520 Dollars a pop ) - they might have a “guinea pig trial” already going on .

WOW! The mortality rate has gone down significantly since I posted a few weeks ago! In Escambia county it’s dropped to .019%! In Florida over all it’s .02%. So I’m not sure what all the hub-bub is about making people wear masks.

Not sure where you learned how to figure a percentage, but you have to move the decimal point. The fatality rate currently in Escambia county is 1.91%, or 19 times deadlier than the flu. That fatality rate translates to about 6 million dead Americans.

Maybe deaths are down but what about life long lung issues or any other after effects? I wear a mask because I respect others

Qpid, death is not the only adverse effect. Recovery can be a months long process. This virus can and often does cause permanent organ damage not just in the lungs, but also in the kidneys, heart, and brain. People have PEs & strokes from this virus. Something as simple as wearing a mask in public can keep the people around you from needing an oxygen tank, dialysis, stroke rehab, cardiac care & rehab. Deciding not to wear a mask is like deciding not to give your child a polio vaccine, only it will be someone else's child who will become ill & crippled.

I know my mask offers me very limited protection. I still wear it every time I go out. I don't want to risk infecting any of you people who think masks are not necessary, who think you know more than all the medical experts begging us all to wear a damn mask.

So I’m not sure what all the hub-bub is about making people wear masks. With a 98% chance of survival rate if you catch this virus I think people should be able to decide for themselves what precautions they should take when going out. Seems like there’s a lot more going on with this situation than meets the eye. Is it about a virus, or maybe an election?

No shirt, no shoes, no service. I am wearing a mask. I respect others and myself. This virus is not a joke. Just treat each other with respect and wear a mask.

Here's an idea. Don't want to help your fellow American by simply wearing a mask. Let everyone who doesn't want to cover their nose and mouth sign a waiver. Saying they won't take up a hospital bed or ventilator should they contract covid. This isn't about infringement. This is about giving our HEALTHCARE workers and hospitals a chance to stay on top of things. Do you want a nurse super overwhelmed because she/he has so many patients they can't keep up. Do you want a stranger deciding if you get a ventilator? I never dreamed of this day and I do not now or have never worked in the medical field. I chose to have compassion and try to be part of the solution. So sign your waiver, have your freedom. I chose to do my part to try and help slow the craziness. I almost bet had we all stepped up and just tried it the numbers would have reduced and all our events wouldn't have gotten cancelled this weekend. We are all in this together. Why not just try for 60 days. Atleast then we can actually say America as a whole tried the mask thing. Either it works or it doesn't but I feel we should try. Atleast then we would know for sure and we could squash the rumors. No need to be ugly. No need to debate or argue this. This is my opinion and just my opinion.
