@ Henry Coe
The US Air Force Personnel who were under the Space MAJCOM have already transitioned, or are in the process of transitioning, to the Space Force. So your comment "If it got to where a 1/3 of the Air Force was dealing with space related issues, at that time it would make sense to split the Airforce with a new military branch..." is actually happening. It's not that new personnel are being brought in for the program so the fiscally irresponsible argument is moot.

Pensacola would be an excellent location for the space command. Pensacola has a rich history with the military and the space command would be a welcome addition.

It would be a feather in the city's cap, but I agree with Mr Elliot. Hurricanes, severe weather would seem to be an issue for such an aerial force to operate in. The man who commented on the poor school system and crime has a point but he's not considering they very healthy growth and improvements areas of our county.

Would make sense to return to Pensacola since the first Astronauts trained at NAS Pensacola back in the early 1960’s. Think it would be a Great idea.

REGARDING:
"People used to think the same for AIR POWER which turned into the AIR FORCE."

Sort of.

The value of air power was noted long before the Air Force was formed. Observation balloons were used as far back as 1794. We had the Army Air Corps, Naval planes, Marines using aircraft. Today we have something like:
U.S. Air Force: 5,000.
U.S. Army: 4,400.
U.S. Navy: 2,600.
U.S. Marine Corps: 1,300. (This may be out of date and the remotely operated drones are impressive because they have capabilities human operated craft can't touch. I'm not sure they are even counted.)

Meanwhile, the Space Force sounds kool but its mission is nebulous:
The U.S. Space Force's mission is to "organize, train, and equip space forces in order to protect U.S. and allied interests in space and to provide space capabilities to the joint force.

It will be interesting to see how they will do that.

David for an Interstellar Force

So the Air Force has a few more than the Army, nearly twice as many as the Navy.
U.S. Coast Guard: 200.

Space Command is currently at Patrick AFB in Coco Beach, where it will likely remain. Next door to KSC and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, where most of the rockets go up. Brevard county and the Space Coast is where they need to be, close to all the action. My guess is they will either stay at Patrick and become a joint base or move the Air Force Station and rename it. I wouldn't get any hopes up.

Yeah...... That is exactly what we need. HAHAHAHAH It will never happen because we don't have the infrastructure to support it. Around here; we have 1970 era roads and bridges because all the tax dollars is sent out to the beach. Another 10K cars to join the Navy Federal mess would finish everything off.

Solution: START: build a by-pass "loop" around the area to take the burden off the surface streets. After that.... We'll talk about solution 2.
