@Sherry, I’m sorry but I know for a fact it was said graduating Summa Cum Laude or Magna Cum Laude or Cum Laude and then each graduate was called in alphabetical order within said distinction. We figured out that they were seated categorically and then alphabetically before the ceremony even started. Escambia High School called all students except for valedictorian and salutatorian in alphabetical order and said which catagory each graduate fell in. So your daughter could have fallen way, way down on the list or you could be thankful for where she did land. I, for one, am just so very thankful they were able to have a ceremony at all.

Y’all, my grandson’s name wasn’t even listed on the back of the program with the rest of the graduates!

William Reynolds, yes I know. They should’ve at least said Summa Cum Laude graduating in alphabetical order and etc. It’s not fair to the ones who worked so hard and thought they would be in order of ranking. Some didn’t find out till they got to the graduation yesterday and was upset.

Northview recognizes honors graduates grouped by GPA (as listed here.) But they did change the order of the Summa, Magna and Cum laudes beginning last year to alphabetical beyond the valedictorian and salutatorian. Unsure why.

I know Tate High School does not recognize a Top Ten. They recognize a Top 10 Percent in rank order. That was 48 graduates this year.

Congrats to all the NHS graduates! Proud of you!! Maybe the graduation committee for Northview needs to revisit their policy on the honor graduates. It was just changed last year for some unknown reason from the order being numerical which the students earned their spot to alphabetical order. They need to return it back to the way it has always been and like all other schools in Escambia County graduate in numerical order for the honor graduates.
