Congrats Coach Gilmore!!! I’m sure you made a positive impact on many students during your teaching career.
I taught your children in Afterschool Care & summer programs years ago. I’ve been an elementary teacher for 25 years!

Coach Gilmore you will forever leave one of the greatest imprints on the minds and hearts of the students of those who have passed through the doors of J.M. Tate High School. Your stern demeanor covered a soft heart for those students around you. I witnessed this the greatest my senior year when you fought for me to walk with my other graduates when not graduating on time. I witnessed this again when I returned a few years later as a substitute teacher and watched your compassion towards the students first hand from the inside looking out this time. Thank you! So Proud of my wife Grace Mondello on her retirement. She was totally committed to teaching, and helping children learn and grow. Her love for teaching and the love she had for all the children she taught was truly amazing. I’m going to enjoy having her home with me, but know she will miss the children. My sincere THANKS goes out to the wonderful faculty and staff for their help and support.

My name is on the list above.

I assure you, there are no exit interviews or post-employment surveys provided by the Escambia County School Districts to departing employees.

At the school level, there is only interest in making sure all computers and school property are turned in, and that a form is completed stating you are terminating employment. They only question asked is when you would like to have your retirement party.

At the district level, retirement forms are completed as quickly as possible, along with a query to ascertain how you plan on obtaining health insurance, plus a few additional signatures. There are no personal or written exit interviews when you leave the District.

You are correct, Pam: 5,117.5 years of experience and expertise are literally allowed to walk out the door.

Why? Some administrators probably have never thought about it. But for others, they simply do not want something on public record that might cut against the grain of their policies.

Congratulations to you all! No matter what part of our educational system you worked in, you each made a difference and were essential to our children’s development.

My mother retired from the transportation department several years ago. She thoroughly enjoyed making a positive difference in the lives of her special needs students and their families.

So thank you all for the differences you made as well! Enjoy your retirement and God Bless.
