Covid-19 has already killed ten times as many Floridians as every hurricane since 2000. We haven’t flattened the curve or spiked yet. If you understand exponential growth you will see that the number of deaths locally will likely be over 1000 by the end of summer without strict quarantined. It’s not a matter of just stay home if you’re scared. Contagions don’t work that way. That’s why our nursing homes are exploding with new cases. Pray on it. Is it not a sin to have so little regard for the most vulnerable members of our community?

Your stay in your six foot bubble(friends, spouse, girl are boy friends)and if your in a group make sure it’s no more than ten please just to keep the peace, use a hanky when you cough our sneeze(this all means thinking of others before you think of yourself),and simply wash your hands ,its called “KISS” keep it simple sweetheart, have a great weekend

Look you do you and I’ll do me,we all need to act like there’s a six foot babble around us okay, this also means if you and your spouse (friends,girl,boy)are your in a group use the six foot babble theory period. Richard Those testing sites you mentioned were open to anyone wanting to get a test. I gave friend a ride to Attucks Court to get a test and there were plenty of folks getting tested that didn’t live there. I’m ftom Cantonment and they had over 300 at that testing site.

Brianh64 If you’re implying that if something isn’t in the constitution you don’t have to do it you would be wrong.
The Supreme Court has had little to say about state power to override people’s liberty during epidemics. The most helpful case is from back in 1905 during the smallpox epidemic, Jacobson v. Massachusetts. In that case, a pastor argued that a mandatory smallpox vaccination violated his constitutional rights. The Supreme Court sided with Massachusetts but framed its decision carefully.

The Court acknowledged that “the liberty secured by the Fourteenth Amendment . . . consists, in part, in the right of a person ‘to live and work where he will.’” But it added: “in every well-ordered society . . . the rights of the individual in respect of his liberty may at times, under the pressure of great dangers, be subjected to such restraint, to be enforced by reasonable regulations, as the safety of the general public may demand.”

So happy more people are paying attention to the actual numbers. With 12 deaths out of 532 cases (people with positive results) that makes the mortality rate for Escambia county .022 %. Hardly a number that should require a shutdown of our society. Do your research people, the response to this virus at first was appropriate because it was new on the scene, however now that testing has ramped up nation wide, the mortality rate has been proven to be equal to or less than even seasonal flu. P.S. wearing a mask around all day actually causes your body stress with the lowered amount of oxygen intake which in turns lowers your immune system.

Let’s all remember there are roughly 320,000 people residing in Escambia County and as of now we have 536 positive cases, that’s about .025% of our population. I know people are going to say well there are asymptomatic people who may have it and not know. The amount of testing we are doing would show that and it’s not, only 7.1% of those tested are positive out of almost 7,000 test.

Yes some will contract in but will recover and build up immunities, therefore the virus will die off and in the mean time will get a vaccine so we don’t have to shutdown the economy.
