Many want “freedom”, not “liberty”. In other words, to do anything that the self wants, and to pay no attention to laws or the well being of others.

And then there’s this statement that few talk about anymore:

“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.”

I’d love to go outside and NOT breath in a bunch of smoke from my neighbors. I’d love to sit in my house and NOT hear my neighbors (and strangers) booming bass. I’d love to drive my car somewhere and NOT be subjected to every form of rudeness, conflict and danger imaginable. But misery loves company.
