I can see staff at the new facility but leave the prisoners in the old facility. NO prisoner deserves the new digs.

Stupenous, I go to, http://inmatelookup.myescambia.com/smartwebclient/jail.asp, regularly. I cannot recall ever seeing someone charged with being homeless. I do sometimes see the word “homeless” listed for their address.

In the “state pays $100 a day per inmate to the county” theory. The county not only makes it money back but will actually see a profit within 9 months.

homelessness is a crime? wow, there will be no trouble keeping the jails full! good deal for the homeless, 3 hots and cot, tv, a/c and heat, and a suit of lincoln green once a week, medical care and medication. cake spiked with saltpeter is still some good cake. cards, dominoes to while away the hours. diet program as you won’t gain weight on jail food, you might have a problem holding up your pants when you get out, i know i did.

Reading the jail log daily I see homeless under charges when they are arrested some with or without bond. It seems if the only charge is homeless and put in jail doesn’t make sense. Are they gonna get a job and pay court fees, etc. I’m sure the jail population would be reduced to those who need to be arrested and get a jumpsuit and bunk.

That’s great that it will finally be built, the former booking area was nice and there was plenty of room for everyone.. While I believe they plan on hiring 90 people to work there, I wonder where they are going to find the new employees. In case people haven’t noticed, there is a sever lack of interest in corrections or law enforcement. It’s hard to get people into a job that paints a target on your back with criminals, liberals, politician’s etc. There is a lot of hate directed towards employees of the state and it doesn’t look like it’s going to let up anytime soon.
