The drawings showed this, the notification was given properly with correct understandable explanation. Unfortunately our BOCC did not apparently attend meetings and bring this potential issue to th he forefront. Why then would you now in an unprofessional and uninformed manner make accusations ?….the previous comment Jan 3…1259…nearby resident is the ONLY ONE that is actually correct in the assessment. Why did FDOT and the BOCC allow the incorrect ramp construction to occur previously.? If you had a better way you should have bid the project

Since they opened up the 2 lanes westbound from the Interstate-10 to Navy Federal traffic hasn’t been backed up like it was in the past. And I don’t see but a few cars coming off that exit on to 9 Mile Road anyways.

I absolutely understand your frustration.I am also frustrated and live a few blocks down from Pine Forest off of Detroit Blvd. We’re risking our lives each time we try to get on to Pine Forest heading south to get to I-10 East. I don’t know what the solution is unless they move the I-10 ramps further south and expand Pine Forest both ways. That northbound merge on Pine Forest happens right where Detroit meets Pine Forest and there are daily accidents. I TOTALLY understand that 20 minute situation. I cannot even go to Publix and back in less than 30 minutes when traffic isn’t bad. It’s ridiculous and I’ve lived out here for 38+ years. It has definitely gotten worse. I hope there will be some plans in the future to help this as we are all just sitting in traffic for hours in the northern part of the county now. due to tremendous expansion. Oh and that property on the west side of Pine Forest between 9 mile and I-10 is for sale – commercial. Go figure.

I just hope when it’s all said and done, that it works better than the “new” Pine Forest Road, which should have had 2 northbound lanes to begin with. What a mess! All of this should have been done correctly 20 years ago.

Futhermore, when it takes me 20 minutes to get from 9 1/2 Mile to the Interstate at am rush hour, I’m not generally in a mood to allow people to merge from Detroit Rd. Seems something could be done about that, as well. One thing would be for the “planners” to leave their cushy government offices and come up here to personally witness what we all have to go through to pay their salaries. Whew!

I think it would of helped immensely if the FDOT in their initial release would of said “Eastbound” I-10 Exit 5 at Nine Mile Road.

Here’s the real deal people Navy federal didn’t cause this problem. When they first built here the county was suppose to widen nine mile road to accommodate for there future growth plans. However the commissioners in the past and present do nothing. The county planning zone continues to allow more and more subdivision to built before infrastructure can meet the demand. Which again falls under the commissioner’s responsibilities. I get it’s a real problem. ( I deal with it everyday) so let’s remember the real problems and vote them out.

As usual,our county commissioners continue to approve multiple neighborhood and other developments without any regard to INFRASTRUCTURE ISSUES. HIGHWAYS 297A AND HIGHWAY 97A ARE PERFECT EXAMPLES!

The diagram/map is pretty self-explanatory (as is the second paragraph of this article). The commissioner (in whose district this exit ramp is located) who commented in hysterics apparently didn’t look at the map or understand what was written–the closure only directly affects eastbound traffic on I-10 exiting to Nine Mile Rd (specifically those seeking to travel westbound on Nine Mile Rd) simply forcing all exiting traffic to use a single ramp (rather than allowing westbound traffic to use the dedicated ramp), and it does NOT “close westbound access to 9-Mile Road” as alleged.
Some of the questions that should instead be asked are:
Why was the ramp constructed incorrectly the first time (and what penalties will be imposed on the company hired to do it)?
Do we want to re-elect a county official who “answers a matter before he hears it” and makes a fool of himself (Prov. 18:13)?
Who will step up to offer wise and ethical new leadership in a county diseased by over-development, inadequate infrastructure, and money-controlled politicians?
