No Child Left Behind was the worst thing created for kids. They keep getting moved to the next grade not knowing anything. Teachers teach exams and the kids and society suffers.

I remember one of my first substitute teaching assignments at Blue Angels Elementary and encountering 4th graders who were just getting comfortable with the alphabet. Barely able to read. The full time teachers explained that they were just directed to keep passing them to the next grade each year. For the truth on education in Escambia, read "Rick's Blog." He has a great recent article that points out that 40% of Pine Forest High School students are reading at a 3rd grade level or below. Yes, you read that right-- they are reading at a 3rd grade level. Escambia keeps passing and allowing these students to graduate but they can barely read. Sign up to be a substitute-- they are desperate for them, and see for yourself.
