Yes, the tax payers are the ones who finance ECAT. However, you can’t penalize people because they can’t afford a car. If you want funding to be fair then tax everyone who lives in Escambia County. Currently only home owners/property owners pay for the county services. All of the renters get off scott free. Tell me how that is fair!

While it is easy for those who have access to their own transportation, ECAT and community transportation are vital to many who either can’t drive or afford their own car. People use the bus system to get to and from work and I applaud them for making the extra effort to get to work and support themselves. A lot of people with disabilities use the system to get to and from work- this cuts down on the amount of other financial assistance they need from taxpayer money. I support having as much community transportation available to people as possible.
And the ECAT drivers are usually exceptionally helpful!

Ever wonder why you cannot see inside a ECAT bus? They don’t want you to see the very few passengers that your paying an additional 4 cent a gallon for gas for.

The grant…hand out..was given when escambia county residents FORCED to pay a fuel tax and the ecat system did not provide service to who was paying the tax.
Thank you commissioners and we will not forget what you did
Ecat is a welfare train…tax others to pay for a ride for others
Its called also Escambia County Obama Affordable Ride Act
