Crime is incredibly high here, I read about a shooting at least every other day. In a relatively small area! Why is everyone so quick to push for Chip Simmons as the new Sheriff? He has raised over 100k and is clearly favored to win. With him, nothing will change.

For UCR (Uniform Crime Reporting) five different victims is 5 different crimes but say you own 5 vehicles and all of them were broken into then you only have 1 crime since there is 1 victim.

So I guess this means you have less chance of your property being vandalized…but you have a better chance of having your house burglarized, your car stolen or getting murdered. Not impressed with those odds.

Keep in mind the report is for Only the First 6 Months of 2019. Meaning, we guess, January–June.
Media sure seems to have reported more Murders than are shown above of 11.

Wondering if there was more than one Murder (or other crime) committed in the same instance is that reported as One Murder or as Multiple Murders?
If thugs go through a neighborhood and steal items from 5 cars is that reported to the state authorities as 5 different thefts or as only One instance of theft with multiple victims?

Numbers really don’t tell us much if they are lumped together for convenience.

Exactly!! Overall crime rate dropped, but violent crimes increased for sure. Data, numbers, and statistics can be manipulated and sold to the public as a packaged deal to advertise anything or convey any message. Pensacola is dangerous, period. Keep your head on a swivel and maintain situational awareness.

So the “overall” crime rate went down but all of the major crimes that affect my family went up. Murders, robberies, aggravated assaults, burglaries and vehicle thefts increased so am I supposed to feel safer now because theft and rape are slightly reduced?
