No one wants to discuss what the frequent "active-shooter" drills and lock-downs are doing to the psyches of these students, especially at the K-5 level. Anxiety disorders starting in very young kids for the sake of something that has a one in a million chance of happening to them. They have to see a shrink at 3, but, by God, now their parents can feel that they're as safe as they already were before we gave them county-sanctioned PTSD. Besides, was it a shotgun, a pistol or a rifle..........it could have been a bottle rocket anymore and the panic ensues from uninformed folks who would better serve us living scared in the city.
