First noticed these critters on our azaleas last year. Did some quick research to determine what they were exactly and if they were stinging or harmful for the dogs. No to both. While hubby went to purchase a sprayer, I picked off caterpillars by hand and dropped them into a bucket of soapy water. About a million 'pillars later, we loaded the sprayer with water and Dawn dish liquid to spray down the bushes. Didn't want to use any sort of chemicals because the dogs have access to the area. That did the trick. Azaleas did regenerate damaged branches and caterpillars did show up again this year! Would love to know if these particular creatures are safe for chickens to eat. If so, ours would be in hog heaven!
