I cried reading this. I cannot imagine your pain. I have a son a little older than Trace and I cannot even entertain the thought of losing him. I know you are so very proud of him and I so enjoyed reading about him wanting to be in the armed forces since he was 10 years old, that melted my heart! I will pray for your family to find peace with his passing. Know that all of your surrounding communities are mourning with you. God Bless You All. Rest in peace soldier.

As a Gold Star mother, my deepest sympathies to the family of Pvt. Goodwin.
There is currently a committee that is working on erecting a Gulf Coast Gold Star monument in Pensacola’s Veteran’s Memorial Park. This is dedicated to all family members that have lost a service member, for any reason, due to being in the Armed Forces of America.
While I know this offers little comfort right now, know there is a supporting community that understands the family’s loss. When this monument goes up, it is for this family too.

God bless your family. Lost my son to a car accident 5 years ago. You’ll think of him everyday, then slowly it will be everyother day, but he’ll never be far from your heart. You’ll always know he’s around.
