Hope the charges are dropped. The charge was more than enough punishment. You see this foolishness on you tube, going into abandoned buildings to explore. Any discharge other than an Honorable will follow them the rest of their lives. That is a life sentence. They have already paid a significant price. Pray they get some mercy and guidance at this point. In the 60s and 70s men were sent into the military as punishment. In the military being 15 minutes late for work is a crime. Miss a day of work without a doctors note telling you to miss is a crime. Give them a break!

If these individuals were not in the United States Marine Corps (except the female)this would not have been in the paper. They will be punished under current State laws and also under the Uniform Code of Military Justice system. I would not discharge them for this they made a very stupid mistake and they will pay for it. Hopefully they will learn from this.Semper Fi

Just another example of over zealous police and prosecutors piling on the hardest charges possible in the hope something sticks. Bottom line is these are still kids, and I’m fairly sure their actions were not intended to be as nefarious as the police are accusing.

For all the perfect stonethrowers here: What they did was dumb but isnt the old Munson School abandoned? I believe some of you would havesuggested the death penalty if you had thought about it. The marines should rough em up some then continue.

I am stunned at the response by some of you people. Margie Hays, there is not such thing as “Margie Hays’ Navy’s USMC tradition. Margie Hays wants them to be “processed out with the worst reinlistment code available on earth”. I guess she means dishonorable discharge. So she wants these young men to be classified below Traitors, Rapist, Murderers and deserters. Ellis, when you leave bootcamp , you are a Marine. Also, Office hours does not lead to a discharge of any kind. ” Remember this” wants you to think of these young men on Veterans and Memorial days.

How many of us have went exploring in old buildings, or storm sewers etc…? These guys volunteered to serve our country, possibly face death in combat. Give them a break. A word to the young Marines. Being Marines, I know you know how to endure hardships. Take your medicine and continue on with your lives. This to will pass.
