This was my friend who was killed
He always went to the gym around 12 or 1am and csme back at about 5am. The bike ride was part of his workout. I know for a fact that his bike was decked out with awesome lights as he was very aware how important it is to be seen. I’m sure this would never have happened had the driver not been drunk.

I live fairly near Ashland – people in this area seem to want to be hit – in the road – dark clothes and not caring about moving out of the way. No – I do not condone DUI. People also need to act responsibly – in vehicles, walking, riding a bike, pushing a baby stroller.

Cell phones are the cause of more highway deaths now than DUIs. Accidents while texting are just as preventable as DUI. Everone needs to think about that when they are pointing fingers. I was hit on my motorcycle in 2009. She was not drinking she was talking on a cell phone. I was almost killed and she got a $250 fine for running a red light. This was not late at night on a dark road this happened at 4:30pm on a sunny day.

I KNOW THIS YOUNG MAN AND GREW UP WITH HIM AND HE HAS A GREAT FAMILY AND HE IS A GREAT PERSON AND WOULD NEVER HURT ANYONE. I HAVE ALMOST HIT A PERSON ON A BIKE MYSELF AND WASNT DRINKING AND I DONT THINK THEY SHOULD BE RIDING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. So sorry for the loss of life on this incident. One night, after leaving a nearby store, my headlights barely caught an adult male STANDING IN THE MIDDLE of Detroit Blvd. a few streets down from Ashland. He was in dark clothing and just stood there. My daughter, who was in her car right behind me, didn’t know why I slammed on my brakes until she saw him as he slowly walked across the lane when an oncoming car appeared. It was scary and dangerous yet I would have been at fault for hitting a pedestrian. I’m so thankful I saw him and no other cars were close. An intoxicated driver probably would not have seen him at all.
