Multitudes of AL farmers would love to grow medical marijuana (it's the highest cash crop), and the state would profit millions, maybe billions. There is not one pharmaceutical drug on the market that doesn't have over 20 different side effects. If you watch cable TV there are constantly new law suits against prescription drugs. Right now all the people selling marijuana in AL are making non taxable income. I thought the State of AL stayed up nights thinking of ways to tax us. AL threw their prudish ways out the window then they elected Trump, so what's holding them up on legalizing MM? It's like the dark ages in AL. You know who doesn't want to legalize it in AL? The prisons for profit folks.

Men such as Volstead and Wheeler meant well in their hearts; but the truth/facts of the matter is that people are going to consume that which they wish to consume.

Mr DeSantis appears to be a practical man. I am sure that he will prove to be a good governor.

I used to be against this until I became a sufferer of chronic pain due to various medical conditions. The government is restricting what Drs can prescribe because of some people abusing pain relief drugs while us legitimate users now have to resort to more dangerous otc drugs that are non effective and cause vital organ damage when used long term and can lead to overdos in an attempt to find relief. I tried a dose of medical marijuana and was shocked at the medical value and pain relief properties that were immediate. I’m in my mid 60s and dreaded the idea of suffering for the rest of my life in bed tossing and turning from the pain with no relief. As with any good thing, there will be those who abuse it and cause others to suffer from their selfishness and do good politicians will rush to fix a minor problem with big consequences. I just want to live out my life in a painfree world and enjoy the things I worked and saved and built.

Alabama needs to follow in this! I have a son who had a car wreck that left him disabled. I'd much rather him smoke medical marijuana than pop a pill that causes more problems than helping him. Most of the prescriptions for depression have warnings about suicide tendencies. I've never heard of anyone using marijuana wanting to end their life. If Alabama isn't legalizing it because they can't figure out how to tax it, treat it like beer and cigarettes.
