This fatal accident happened at the corner of Kingsfield and Joel St. I occurred where I reside. I will tell you there is no street lighting on East Kingsfield unless the people who reside there provide it. Also people do not follow the rules when walking along roads. When walking you should walk facing traffic, wearing light color clothing, and just off the road; not on the pavement. Unfortunately, this was not the case, and the driver did nothing wrong in this instance. I was the first person to reach this poor soul and rendered aid. I wish the outcome was different, may God give rest to her soul.

I reside on Kingsfield. Just tonight two gentleman were walking on the white line, basically walking in our lane. An on coming car enabled us to move around them much. It was a close call. The walker threw his hands in the air. Get the heck off the road. Maybe, just maybe you won’t get hit or run over. The road Is designed for vechels. More than enough room for them to walk in the grass. Don’t be stupid. Feel sorry for the driver.

My heart goes out to both the victim's family and the driver. I live on Kingsfield Road. It doesn't matter what time of day you are traveling on Kingsfield - you will have to deal with both speeders (cars, trucks, business vehicles) and walkers. There is an older gentleman that walks on the road daily, refusing to step off onto the grass and will motion for cars to move over into oncoming traffic. He is either walking to or from the Tom Thumb at Chemstrand and Kingsfield. My husband and I have commented on several occasions that he is "an accident waiting to happen". Please! County commissioners, won't you help us?

@Frank, how bout you check stats about ticket writing by deputies. They issue a lot more than you think. How bout telling folks that get tickets for speeding and other infractions to just fess up and not waste deputy’s time in court saying they were wronged and just admit it and pay the ticket.

We need to band together and demand better lighting and sidewalks on Kingsfield Road! There have been too many deaths on this road. Two of them were almost directly in front of my home. I am afraid to drive on Kingsfielid, and I have no choice

No doubt speeding is a problem in our county.....why is it i seldom see law enforcement pulling folks over for speeding....i see mostly county officers pulled over facing opposite of each other, driver window to driver window, shooting the breeze.

It’s time to put sidewalks, curbs, and lighting from Chemstrand to Palafox. With the convenient stores at both ends, we will always have foot traffic, especially young people. Are we waiting for a teen or younger to get hit and killed before change occurs?
