Maybe if teachers were paid more they wouldn’t get involved in criminal activity. I’m not condoning the actions nor do I know her. This is crazy.

She should be fired because of the fact she was in the house. It sickens me with some of these comments. Pray for them, Hell no I won’t. I will pray for the lives she helped destroy. Ms. Maines makes me sick. How many days did she teach kids high on drugs. How many days. You want to give her the benefit of the doubt. Wake up. She’s a teacher. 5:00 am, in a house that has drugs and selling drugs. She chose to hang with these people. She needs to have the law put her away for awhile. We trust our children with these teachers. would you drop your children off with drug addicts, drug pushers? I think not. One comment was she a good teacher. OMG.

I have to admit in the past, I have rushed to judgement on stories exactly like this but I’ve known Ms Maines literally my entire life. I don’t remember a time that I didn’t. She is highly intelligent, educated, compassionate, a wonderful mother, teacher and a kind, giving person who is well respected within the education system. She had everything to lose and nothing to gain here. Sometimes we get trapped in a situation that financially, mentally or emotionally we can’t control or escape. We all know teachers don’t make a lot of money in Escambia County. I have to believe there is so much more to this story that will just have to play out.

Besides being a teacher, who is supposed to be teaching how bad drugs are, look at the ages of these people. Grow up. This is so disappointing.

As a child, my teachers were the only positive role models I had. Had it not been for their influence who knows what decisions I would have made. I am sure all my teachers are saints. Anyway, I say that to say, as much as we want teachers to be saints, they are just people like the rest of us. They have their own struggles but rarely let it show. I think teachers are amazing.

As far as this case goes– it is best to let an investigation be done and let it go through the legal process. While being arrested shows a probable cause, it does not convict.

Drugs are very bad. I hope that this article can help parents and children open up and talk about things. 1) Choose your company wisely 2) Know when/where to seek help 3) Drugs are not the answer 4) Work to be healthy physically, mentally, spiritually, and financially.
