Only when lying under oath is it actually illegal. It's wrong but not illegal. It is up to voters to decide what is true and what is false in political claims. You don't want government throwing candidates in jail for making what they claim are false statements. (Mexico might not pay for a giant wall, for example. That should have been obvious.) We respond to lying politicians by not voting for them -- in theory, at least. It seems like some say, "Tell me a pleasant enough lie and I belong to you." David for higher standards. REGARDING:
