Last year another person was hit and killed in front of the Cemetary. He was my neighbors adult son. He walked every day. A car came from the street next to the florist. Went to medium and went too fast because he went too far over past outside lane almost in front of our Silver Lake . He hit him very hard. He died instantly. Whats sad was 2 years prior, he was run over in the Texar Rd area. He had to learn to walk again. Which is why he walked every day and night. Hmmm. Car go so FAST on Pine Forest at the race track and south. Because it is so hard and dangerous just to turn into Silver Lake from both ways. And even harder to get out!!! PLEASE!!! be careful! SLOW DOWN and watch the road sides. Because, there are people DO walk on the sides. And a lot ride bikes. Day or Nights. We were so sad for the lady was run over.

@Dennis, I agree that we need more sidewalks and pedestrian crosswalks; however, I am amazed almost daily at the number of people around town I see walking across busy roads (not at a crosswalk/signal), walking on the edge of the road (or even in the road!) with their back to traffic, walking at night in dark clothing, etc. Somewhere along the way I feel like we have not educated a whole generation of people on how to safely be a pedestrian. Or for that matter, I don’t think we’ve educated drivers how to safely interact with pedestrians, either.

The sad thing is Drivers see vehicles park by or on roads and they speed by with out slowing down at all. We as drivers need to slow down and move over as much as possible treating it as there is a potential hazard. My work has me park and be close or crossing the road. I have been almost hit a dozen times. I know that this was not the situation, but it still needs to be addressed at the same time. My thoughts and prayers for all involved.

I agree with the gentleman who commented on sidewalks.. Our county could inforce new codes upon new developments that would require sidewalks and not cost 1 penny of the county’s money, although that would not solve the problem of pedestrians being hit on major roads.
Prayers for the family of the victim. I can not fathom the thought of someone hitting a human, and not having enough compassion to pull,over and help them.

There is a simple and effective solution to these kinds of events, but it costs money, and that is sidewalks and pedestrian crossing signals. I lived in Colorado for almost 30 years before returning here and almost every road in that state has sidewalks. For the life of me, I cannot understand why pedestrian safety is not a priority for our local government officials. I can think of no better use for our tax dollars and no higher priority for local governments than improved safety measures for our residents, but, for some reason, it never happens.

It’s just possible that Kenneth Richardson never realized that he had ran over someone. If it’s proven he knew that he ran over this individual and leaving then I 100% agree with you.

So sorry this happened and my condolences to the victims family and Jazma but to the sorry excuse of a human Kenneth Richardson how could you hit someone and leave them lying wounded/dead on the highway you young man I sure hope you and your mama are proud of the man you have turned out to be. Shame on you!

White at night, white at night. Can’t this become a public service announcement? I am to the point of driving in the left lane if there is one and I do not belong there as I try to drive the speed limit and the left lane tends to be a racetrack. God bless this persons family and also the driver, so sad.

So many people walk across there from the little Liquor store to the trailer park. They wear dark clothing and you cant see them, this would make the third one that I remember hit by a car on that stretch of the road. Saddened for this family…
