I called the hot line number on 11/16/18 at 5:10 pm to report corn pile location in Black Water State Forest. I was told a game warden was en route to me that he was only ten miles away and they asked me to wait on him. 50 min later I called hot line back to see if he was coming. They said they would call him and call me right back. Few min later game warden called and said it was to late to come to me that night that he would contact me the next day. He never called me back. So much for reporting unlawful activity.

Presently, under Rule 68A-27.005 of the Florida Administrative Code, it is illegal to take, possess, or sell the alligator snapping turtle, as it is a protected species.

alligator snapping turtle are a delicacy in a swamp stew in the past the harvest rules were 1 per person rule i just ran across this site posted for comment although most probably wouldnt think of turtle as good eating properly harvested and cleaned they eat really good with a red meat cut into small pieces with shrimp and a few small pieces of alligator meat and softshell turtle a tomato base and a few veggies and seasonings youve got something great . but it does take a long time for the slligator turtle to grow to size so i think that they should release these at a from a fishery back into wild on a permit based systemif 100 permits are bought for snapping turtle 1 year they release 105 back into the wild but feel they should be nursed to at least a 12 inch shell carapiece in a nursery till introduced back into the wild so predation from alligators and gar dont eat them and survival rate is greater. god put these creatures here for mankind to look at for some but also to eat for others . same as all other wildlife thats why federal land for survival needs setting aside and local state and wildlife managements need to be in place in a larger capacity if not the contractors of america will destroy everything in the greed of making money. see the thing is even know only a few people harvest these turtles they should be able to have access to gods resources it shouldnt come down to voting about eating. with out population in certain areas exploding with numbers we need ample land set apart to hold wildlife and trees and the public dhould have access to it . too much to post on a debate of right or wrong but their is no right or wrong in this matter only management of it.
