I think Escambia County should fund the town of Century in its entirety (100%). Then we can continue to track the money and see what the town of Century is all about. I enjoy reading all the articles about the town of Century on NorthEscambia.com and I do not want to see it stop. The Town of Century is corrupt, backward, bad stewards of funds and should be dissolved. But hey, it’s only taxpayers dollars. Let’s get as much entertainment and fun out of this situation as we can. If you are not going to shut down a corrupt Town of Century, then, lets fully fund it and let the wackiness begin and we can all have a good laugh!!!

Town of Century should be all or nothing!!!

Yes Century prison can help all of Florida our..lock up these misfits in a nice warm Landry room for a few years for being the most proactive circus…wait..might not be able to lock up the bunch of crooks…that “sovereign” card they are trying to play …oh heck..lock them up..throw away the key…

It does exist because it did exist. South Flomaton was chartered under different rules, changed its name to Century to get those others to agree to be annexed. This was done because federal monies would be available if they did.

Should it continue to exist? Maybe so, maybe no. It’s up to them (and their trusting creditors).

Oh, and the saw blade was fabricated at the prison as I recall as a piece of art honoring Century’s history. We in the Town of Bluff Springs don’t particularly care.

Century depends upon the STATE Prison to boost their Natural Gas Income?
Century wants the State Prison to pay HIGHER Gas Bills?
Century, just WHO do YOU think pays for the State Prison to pay for its gas bills?
WE THE TAXPAYERS.
Sometimes, Honest to Goodness and all the Stars Above it seems the folks running Century are sniffing too much gas themselves.
Lord Save Us from Shoddy Run Politics and Poor Management and it doesn’t make a Hoot in the Holler the color of your skin, Messed UP is Messed UP.

When your are flat broke you start shaking out every pocket and breaking open every piggie bank. 18 y/o meters? Great job by Century in keeping up with the times. The giant sawblade as you enter the town speaks volumes about how out of touch Century is with today.

What “M” in Bratt has related is just the more reasons to have a consolidated government for the county. Not to worry about Pensacola proper controlling the rest of us…the county has more voters than the city. Compromise, compromise and consolidate for a more efficient and less duplication of services throughout our county.

Bravo to the prison for cutting their costs.

I hope this gas dept fiasco will teach the importance of maintenance. A plan should be made to check/test all meters at least once every quarter and not wait 18 years.

12 thousand dollar drop in the monthly gas bill. Thumbs up to the state on saving gas, but there is a meter problem. Eighteen year old meter tells me everything I need to know about the operation of the gas company.
