This is exactly what they did... in short, they guaranteed the safety of the kids first, established a safer environment for the public via massive response 2nd, and then began a co-ordinated search for someone with a warrant who is known for fleeing from police. I am not sure how they could have done it better. So by all means any one of you with an all seeing eye who think like @Total Fail please do write an operations manual for escambia county with your copious wisdom. and to close: the police have *Zero* blame in this. this *ALL* falls on the head of the jerk who ran from police. It's *ALL* on him. If he has any family or friends that help him, they can share the blame with him. all because this little car thief is too weak to man up and face the charges he's already caught before all this. @ Total Fail (and anyone who agrees with her.)

And, these clowns are out at three or four in the morning grabbing door handles in your cozy little neighborhood while you sleep. Then, they find an unlocked car with the keys in it or use your valet key in the owners manual. Bam ! Now they drive off with your car, a fistful of change, and a stolen firearm. Happens every night in this county. So cry me a river when you were not personally notified by Crime Stoppers or the ECSO that this guy was seen in a residence near the school. If the county felt it was necessary to utilize so many men and women (deputies) and potentially put 100’s of students into a dangerous situation then parents should have been called to pick up their kids. I would have gladly picked up my child and all their friends to take home vs having them walk home. Instead we allow them to walk down Kingsfield where a wanted individual is in the area? He obviously doesn’t want to be caught so if they see him what happens?? Do they shoot him? Does he shoot police? Kids? Wow... I guess you are right this wasn’t a failed situation it was really thought out in the best interest for everyone involved. NOT!!! Smh thanks for wasting my tax dollars. Some sheep are brave enough to take on the wolf to protect the herd. So when I see these Deputies in full force hunting this felon, in my neighborhood, it makes me feel safer, not scared.
