People that want sidewalks in their neighbor hood should ask their county commissioner to implement an MSBU tax for the purpose of building sidewalks and lighting improvements. Have a meeting with all your neighbors about this and if majority want it go forward.

Lack of lights isn’t the problem, lack of a lighted walkway/bike-way IS the problem. This area is very pedestrian. You see people all times of day and night walking to work, bus stops, grocery, fast food, etc…. WHY? Because they have no other choice. Gulf Breeze, Pensacola proper, Perdido and many other areas of Escambia County have sidewalks pretty much EVERYWHERE, yet we in Cantonment have almost none. The problem starts with our county commissioners not demanding funding so that we are afforded the same measures of safety as the wealthier parts of town. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. If you want safer ways for our citizens to travel, tell our County Commissioners how you feel.

I agree that they need more lighting on this road. People do walk or ride bicycles with dark clothing all of the time through there. I have come real close a few times to hitting them. Prayers for all involved…

They need more light back there on that road it’s too dark and peoole walk up and down that road day and night ..

So sorry to hear this. We live in this area, and frequently are startled by pedestrians on 95A that are dressed in dark clothing, walking or cycling on the edge of the road. It’s a poorly lit road, with no shoulder for safe transit. Why there can’t be lights installed on the many poles along this road is a wonder. Prayers for the families involved.
